Carrie Wortham Birth Center

The Carrie Wortham Birth Center in Fombrun is a rural, community-rooted facility providing full maternity services. The land was donated by the people of Fombrun, who wanted a safe place where women could give birth with dignity and skilled care close to home.

At the center, Haitian midwives and staff provide comprehensive services including prenatal and postpartum care, safe deliveries, family planning, and health education. Equipped to handle complications and supported by community ownership, the birth center reduces the distance and barriers that keep rural families from lifesaving care.

It stands as a symbol of partnership between Midwives for Haiti and the people of Fombrun, a locally anchored response to the urgent need for safer births in rural Haiti.
