Volunteers Needed

A Crowd of Hopeful Haitian Nurses 72

Who can volunteer?

Midwives For Haiti students are trained by full-time in-country instructors. Each week we send professionally trained midwives who give their time and money to help precept Haitian women in midwifery skills. CNM’s, CPM’s, Ob/Gyn nurse practitioners, and labor & delivery nurses are the preferred volunteers.

Volunteers must have licensed medical credentials, flexibility and sensitivity to their role in a foreign culture. Motivated, self-directed individuals with medical experience in the developing world can be assets to the program in Hinche. You will learn as much as you teach, and your life will never be the same.

 What are volunteer requirements?

Volunteers are responsible for financing and arranging their own airfare, to arrive into Port-au-Prince on a Saturday no later than 12:30pm - 1:00pm and depart on a Saturday no earlier than 12:30pm. From there, Midwives For Haiti sets up transportation, lodging, food and translators for the rest of the week. The cost to volunteer for one week is $650 (not including airfare) and for each additional week is $350, covering transportation between Port-au-Prince and Hinche, accommodations and food in Hinche, taxis in town, and translators for the week.
